the others'

A hungry man
steals food to be alive.
how can i write about my 'alter-ego'?

A mentally disabled
prays with meaningless words.
how can i talk about psycho-analysis?

Another, limp tiredly onto a walking stick.
how can i converse about theories of Socrates?

A father, lost everything in the quakes,
walks with his son, hand in hand, undecidedly.
Should i read Jacques Lakan seeing this?

Another, shivers in cold,
coughs up blood.
how can i open my mouth about simmering self-pride?

Another, searches bones spat
and rotten fruits thrown in hotel garbage.
how can i write about infinity?

Another, falls down while building,
and dies out of hunger.
how can i reform literature with contributions?

A seller fools a man,
one gram in ten.
do i have to discuss 'fourth dimension'?

A rich man earns lakhs,
out of tax fraud.
how can i scream in cinemas, watching 'entertainment'?

A beggar sleeps on today's newspaper,
before a closed shop.
should i keep talking about 'Guernica' by Picasso?

Someone walks to cemetery,
sobbing, to attend a funeral.
should i enroll myself for a PhD in 'eternity'?

Someone, polishes his hidden shotgun,
for imminent use.
should we discuss life after death?

Someone, walks past me calculating
on his fingers how to buy food for his daughter,
I dare not think any more.

inspired DIRECTLY from a poem by a Latin-American poet, Cesar Vellajo [Pronounced sess'ar wayeho]
i have changed the context of that poem which wud have moved people of last century.

Fantastic!! Ragesh....Everything in this world becomes secondary to love and happiness.

You know what i was discussing about this poem with my friends ..here are some thoughts....

how many times we have thought about the good things that we have had in life, and how many times we have dwelled on the worst we have gone through..We all know the second half is siginificantly higher..here is a counter argument to quote about the brighter aspects of life - the aspects that always lie concealed, that we always fail to recognize and respect to the extent we regard/toil over the pessimistic ones....

A blooming apple tree
The swaying breeze
How can I not talk about bounty?

Smiling little children
Dancing in the rains
How can I not talk about blessings?

Destructive earthquakes
Youths helping and healing each other
How can I not talk about humanity?

A hungry kid eating crumbs,
A hungrier mother looking on
How can I not talk about love?
